At Jonathan Keys Opticians we will examine your eyes to find the optimal prescription for your visual needs in conjunction with a range of tests to determine the health of your eyes.
An eye examination involves recording history and symptoms, vision and prescription assessment, binocular vision assessment, colour vision, anterior and posterior ocular examinations and screening for diabetes & glaucoma.
We recommend that patients over 18 years of age have retinal photographs taken at every visit. These images give a 45 degree view of the central retina – much better than a conventional ophthalmoscope. We compare the images at each visit so even very subtle changes can be picked up at the earliest stages.
For information on specific eye problems, such as cataract, glaucoma, diabetes and macular degeneration please view our page on eye conditions
Many people qualify for a FREE eye test under NHS guidelines - including children 18 or under in full time education, over 60s, diabetics & family history of glaucoma. All children should have an eye test before P1 to reduce the likelihood of learning difficulties that can be associated with uncorrected vision.
